Nice2Tri 5km Run Series 2010

27/11/2009

The Nice2Tri Race Team are pleased to announce the first series of 5km races in Hertford…. And it’s FREE!

With 9 dates set aside for 2010, the aim is to get as many people taking part of all different abilities and backgrounds. The course is a simple out and back route, part tarmac and part bridle path. The race series starts in earnest on Saturday January 16th. It will be held on the middle Saturday of every month, taking a break in April, June and August allowing everyone to focus on other events and holidays.

This is a classic distance for 10km race prep and Olympic Distance Triathlon training. Racking is provided for anyone who wants to fit in a pre or post bike session – get your transition legs in practice. Coaches and personal trainers are welcome to join their athletes and clients to help them pace the session correctly.

Walkers, joggers, runners and sprinters can all get something from the session. So, register now by sending an email to lee@nice2tri.com with your name, telephone number and declare yourself as a Runner.

You can enter on the day so long as you are on time. You can still run if you are late, just don’t ask us for an official time!

Nice2Tri want to bring as many people together and cross paths. Young & old, fast and slow, beginners to elites. We want to have fun, run well and improve everyones experience in training. Fun runners, marathon runners, triathletes, gym goers.

This event is FREE. Donations to our chosen charity. the Ellis Harriet Clark Foundation will be warmly received on race day registration. Bring your spare change from Friday night!

The course is flat and fast. Ok, some people might describe it as heavy and steady! With tarmac path and bridleway to negotiate, it’s an urban suburban mix. 2.5km out and back which is a great way of learning how to pace an even session. It also delivers a burst of revived energy at the turnaround point for those who don’t pace the first half too well.

We shall post a route map later.

The timings for each session are;

08:15-08:45am - Register at the Nice2Tri Showroom. Race numbers will be issued and your start time allocated. If you have pre registered then you are guaranteed to start earlier.

08:45am - Marshall brief – outside the Nice2Tri showroom. Confirming the route and setting off to positions.

09:00am - First runners set off. 2-4 runners will be set off every 20 secs to allow for easy passage and everyone to be mixed up regardless of personal bests and ability. You never know – you might be lined up with an International athlete!

Results can be found by clicking the relevant dates when published.

Marshalls and timekeepers needed

No free event would be successful if there weren't any volunteers. All we can offer for helping us to complete the event is a free cup of coffee and the occasional gift voucher, maybe some cake too! If you don’t fancy running but are going to be there to support then it would be great if you can help. The walk would certainly be a refreshing start to the weekend.
